Case Study

Making dental repairs less painful.

MC Repairs has been using a bespoke legacy system to manage their repairs for many years. The system was built around 15 years ago and has worked well for the business, however due to developer availability and other factors, it was time for fresh thinking.

Project at a glance

  • Client: MC Repairs
  • Industry: Dentistry
  • Services: Guide, Build
  • Delivered: Modernised system to remove manual workflow and remove human errors
  • Project status: Ongoing

The challenge

The legacy system was difficult to maintain, and the developer was no longer available to make the amendments required by the business.

There were manual workflows that really needed to be systemised, and uptake of MCR's client portal was low.

Our approach

After documenting the business processes, workflows and how the incumbent system fit into them, we set about designing a new system which would provide the required existing functionality, but also remove manual workflows and reduce human error.

It would also be built using a technology stack that is current and therefore maintainable for years to come. We also designed the system to be cloud hosted, rather than installed on PCs in the office.

The solution

We designed and built a modern, cloud-hosted repairs platform that preserved the capabilities MC Repairs relied on, while replacing fragile manual steps with systemised workflows and a stack that can be maintained for years to come.

  • Cloud-hosted platform accessible without office PC installs
  • Existing repairs management functionality retained and modernised
  • Manual workflows systemised to reduce human error
  • Improved client portal to support greater uptake

The outcome

The project is still in development. Work so far has focused on replacing the ageing desktop system with a cloud-hosted platform that retains the repairs functionality MC Repairs rely on, while laying the groundwork to systemise manual workflows and reduce human error.

  • A modern, maintainable platform under active development
  • Designed to remove manual workflows and improve accuracy once fully rolled out
  • Built to support greater use of the client portal as the system matures

As delivery continues, the completed platform is intended to give the business a more efficient, accurate way of managing repairs - without depending on unsupported legacy software or office-only installs.

Technology

A current, maintainable stack chosen to support long-term evolution of the platform in the cloud.
